The trouble is, I really don't know what else to replace LR with. It also does not feel like a native Mac application, and can be a bit clunky at times. Neither was ready for release in my opinion, and it still isn't. I'm afraid to keep spending money on ON1, and somewhat resent having to pay for 19 to fix 18's issues. I can choose a set of files to import, but when I click import, nothing happens Aperture ran better on my 9 year old Mac Pro The secondary display feature is a welcome addition, but it frequently behaves oddly compared to LR, which was about perfect ON1 sometimes hangs with a single CPU at 100%, requiring a force quit ON1 Photo RAW 2018.5 was released a few weeks ago and it is the latest ultra-powered offering from ON1 that strives to not so much dethrone Lightroom and Photoshop but rather provide a gentle reminder to the user that there are in fact other outstanding pieces of software available. On paper, ON1 seems like the ideal replacement, but with the latest release I have the following show-stopping issues: I was using Lightroom, but was frustrated at how slow it was, among other things. I'm ready to pay $80, but is there something I need to consider before I go and buy the licence? Is there any user who's happy/sad with the decision? I'm writing this post to ask if someone can help me here with this. First impressions are quite positive, but I still am not sure with what will come to me, especially I barely know Photoshop and therefore there's a steep learning curve for masks, layers, etc. I'm currently using the 30 day trial and even migrated my LR to it. I then started looking to the paid (but with ownership) software.Īfter my research, I think I will settle with ON1 Photo RAW. I already tried darktable, rawtherapee and canon's own dpp, but neither of these fits me somehow. The problem is, I don't want to spend $300 for CaptureOne, nor rent the software for a unnecessarily (for me, of course) high amount of money. Obviously, there are 2 really good ones which come to mind in such situations, Lightroom Classic CC and CaptureOne. Although I'm still very happy to use it, the fact they probably won't update it to comply with the future macOS versions soon, I'm currently on search for an alternative. I currently use Lightroom 6 with perpetual licence I bought back then and it's not supported anymore. I always shoot raw (Canon CR2 but in the future possible CR3, if it's relevant) and hence I need a good RAW processor. This was one feature missing from the 2014 Perfect Photo Suite and really hasn’t made an impact until now. A Digital Asset ManagerDAM for shortcatalogs, tags, and creates keywords that make finding your images fast and easy. I'm an hobbyist with more than apple photos or Windows photos app requirements. ON1 Photo RAW 2018 includes lightning-fast photo management.
