One of the other ways to use Water Dump is by building dikes that can completely block the water. Dams and other similar structures can be built through the Landscaping menu. But you can still build water dumps next to dams, providing your colony with an endless supply of water for irrigation. This means that flooding is still possible with dams due to overflows.
